With extreme weather occurring on a global scale, our living space is becoming increasingly precarious. Under such circumstances, we can not help but ask: can the world achieve the promised emissions reduction target and stave off global warming, is the climate crisis facing humanity as severe as the depressing news headlines?

To answer these questions, ichongqing had an exclusive interview with SVEIN TVEITDAL, former UN Environment Programme Director, to hear the UN climate expert’s insights about the current climate crisis.

]]> From the opening of the COP27 and my comments to TRT World on the possible outcome of the meeting. My key points: The conference will not turn the trend. Emissions and temperature will continue to increase. I.5C target is out of reach. Good news: “Loss and Damage” are on the formal agenda for the first time after decades of dragging between rich and poor. A mechanism for compensation for poor countries might be reached by 2024. Without it, it will be impossible to have an agreement between rich and poor countries to limit warming. The impact of Russian gas might be one step back and two steps forward on the green shift.
